WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES
Walk A Mile In Their Shoes is an evening of our community coming together to support Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands, its mission, and the survivors we know and love. It is impossible not to know someone who has been impacted by sexual violence, even if you have not been told.
April 11, 2019, marks the tenth anniversary of Walk A Mile in Columbia. Over the past nine years, thousands of South Carolinians, including survivors, have walked with STSM and shown their support of ending violence in our state. Walk A Mile has given a voice to an experience shared by 1 in 4 women and 1 in 33 men.
Last year alone, 1,487 superheroes walked a mile for sisters, brothers, parents, grandparents, classmates, coworkers, daughters, sons, neighbors, cousins, uncles, friends, spouses, and partners, and raised $97,000 for trauma-focused healing services provided by STSM.
As much as we have done and as far as we have come, there is still more left to do in the fight for a safer South Carolina.
